The Vodafone Foundation today announces that global users of the DreamLab app have helped Imperial College London complete the first phase of the Corona-AI research project in just 6 months. This is significantly faster than would be possible with standard research methods. The Corona-AI project, which began in April, identifies combinations of existing food molecules and medicines that could help COVID-19 patients. Researchers at Imperial College London have reported preliminary advances in their study, including identifying molecules with antiviral properties in plant foods that people consume every day, such as berries (especially currants, blueberries and blackberries) apples, oranges, lemons, cabbage, broccoli, onions, garlic, parsley and beans. Researchers will further analyze the results, and clinical validation will be needed to assess what impact these molecules might have. This research project at Imperial College London has been made possible by DreamLab, an award-winning application developed by the Vodafone Foundation to facilitate cancer research. |
