Dr. Ghazi Al-Jobor, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners and CEO of Jordan’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority informed during the ITU Ministerial Roundtable, that TRA decided to form a committee including telco chiefs, technical managers, and officers of TRA to discuss the needs of the networks to stay resilient during the COVID-19 crisis. After the discussions, TRA made the following decisions: • Temporary spectrum allocation for operators; • Removed spectrum utilization restrictions on all licenses; • Planned with telecommunication operators to cover territories that are being used for quarantine areas and also to enforce network capabilities at borders; • Continuously monitoring networks to give technical help; • Allocation of toll-free numbers for emergency services; • Asked operators to allow access to e-learning websites carried out by government and educational ministries; • Spectrum allocation will be extended as long as needed.
