ITU and the Office of National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NTBC), of the Kingdom of Thailand signed a partnership agreement to co-organize the Girls in ICT Day 2022 in Thailand aiming at supporting and enhancing digital literacy and skills of girls and young women in the country and enhancing their career progression, at encouraging girls and young women to utilize ICT meaningfully and strengthening the Girls in ICT Day online community in Thailand, and at exploring partnerships with various government and UN agencies to continue the support to digital literacy and digital skills development after the event.

ITU partnered with the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) of Thailand on enhancing the capacity of researchers in the country in the area of Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT) (Blockchain), trends and assessment techniques, including building skills on developing and implementing DLT based projects. Through the collaboration the training on Building Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT) Projects” was held in November 2019 in Bangkok (Thailand) bringing together 50 participants from government, industry, research institutions, international organization and academia in DLTs (Blockchain).

ITU and the Office of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) of Thailand partnered to enhance the skills of its staff and the telecommunication/ICT stakeholders in priority areas of “Artificial Intelligence” and “Traffic Engineering and Advanced Wireless (5G and IoT) Network Planning.” In particular, the cooperation strengthened institutional, human and technical capacity, as well as enhanced awareness and improved skills of the NBTC staff and ITU Members from the Asia and the Pacific region.

ITU and the Office of National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) of Thailand worked together to support a capacity building project to enhance the skills of NBTC staff and of the telecommunication/lCT stakeholders in priority areas of new technologies (such as Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies) as well as in policy and regulatory issues pertaining to digital applications. The cooperation provided an excellent mechanism to build new resources on competition analysis in converged environment and Distributed Ledger Technologies and contributed to training of more than 110 participants in areas of competition analysis in digital applications environment and Distributed Ledger Technologies (Blockchain) ecosystem.
