Lidia Best is a Vice President of European Federation of Hard of Hearing People ( EFHOH) and Chairman of the National Association of Deafened People (NADP) with focus with specific focus on hard of hearing people in policy development, consulting , standardisation. Lidia’s recent achievement is a publication of the ITU technical standard on remote captioning, which will serve as an international benchmark on minimum standards expected in remote captioning and support users expectations. As a member of the European Disability Forum (EDF) ICT Experts Group she provides input in consultations on the European Accessibility Act (EAA) including latest round of the review of Audio-Visual Media Services Directive (AVMSD). Lidia has a long-standing collaboration with key stakeholders in real time captioning , subtitling and broadcasting. She is expert advisor in the Accessibility Work group of the Digital TV Group and the Consumer Forum for Communication at OFCOM . Additionally as a member of Deaf Access to Communication (DAC) Special Interest Group of UK Council on Deafness she provides input into development in telephone relay services and quality of captioning in UK.
