Valarie Waswa is a Gender equality advocate, and youth activist with a background in law and legal studies. She is the Founder of Village Pillars Empowerment Project, an NGO that provides sustainable solutions to empower young women and girls in the area of SRHR and economic empowerment. For 3 years now, Valarie has taken part in various initiatives with her organizations and other organizations as well to empower young women and girls from holding campaigns to conducting training, Grassroots to high level projects.
She then was selected in 2020 as one of the Digital Youth Envoy for Generation Connect Africa, and her vision is to leverage this opportunity to ensure more women and girls access digital technologies and ICT, as this will boost them economically by providing jobs, education, better Activism and an improved standard of living.
She therefore is interested in speaking in the GenerationConnect@GSR event to contribute in this theme, for she speaks from a point of experience having worked with women and girls from disadvantaged communities, she understands the challenges they face, and working with several organizations in advisory and representative roles has enabled her gain insights on coming up with the best solutions especially in enhancing digital inclusion by having more women accessing and using digital technologies.
