At the second half of 2014 Mr. Russ was appointed Director Business Operations and Infrastructure Procurement, heading Intelsat`s Luxembourg Office. From the beginning of the process of negotiating the Satellite Charter he supported and represented Intelsat as one of the signatories.
Prior to his move to Luxembourg, he was and still is MD of Intelsat Kommunikations GmbH, the Fuchsstadt Teleport of Intelsat in Germany.
He joint Intelsat August 2002, a few months after Intelsat bought the site and transformed the former Deutsche Telekom earth station during his tenure into the largest Teleport within Intelsat with now 80 antennas and to one of the busiest commercial Teleports on earth. The constant build-out over 17 years (77 antennas got added) and the heavy emphasis on redundancy and Monitoring & Control Tools across all functional areas realized an operational resiliency and robustness in the industry second to none.
The Teleport is providing managed and co-location services to a large international customer base providing services for commercial Data and Video as well as TTC services and it is an integral part of the global hybrid Intelsat network with 8 Teleports all connected with high speed redundant fibre.
Prior joining Intelsat, Mr. Russ, worked at a leading European VSAT Service Provider in various roles as VP Operations, VP Sales, and MD over more than 12 years, supporting European customers with satellite-based communication in Europe and the World. He actually developed same company from scratch in 1990 at a major satellite communication equipment manufacturer and transferred this business unit into its own legal entity.
Prior to this he held various senior management positions at various export oriented manufacturing companies in Sales/Marketing and Project Management.
Mr. Russ, a citizen of Germany, holds a Master of Business Administration/Industrial Engineering of the University of Karlsruhe, Germany.
