Mike has worked in volunteer rescue, disaster response and international humanitarian aid for more than 20 years and covering nearly a dozen rescue and response organisations in 5 countries. Mike has designed & delivered training for emergency responders at every level – from local drivers on the border of Syria and Iraq, through to CIO’s of international organisations.
Mike also completed 4 years as the Training Development Manager for the IT Emergency Response branch of the United Nations World Food Programme. In this role he was responsible for all significant interagency training activities targeted at the international humanitarian ICT community and the Emergency Telecoms Cluster, including the design, planning & delivery of major inter-agency field exercises (such as OpEx Bravo) and training courses (IT Emergency Management Training, Let’s Comm Digital, and many more). He continues to run disaster exercises and training courses to help build emergency response capacity, and consults on business continuity and disaster recovery for IT solutions.
