Abida Shaukat is working as Director Radio Based Services at PTA Headquarters Islamabad. She possesses Masters degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from one of the prestigious university of USA, University of Michigan Ann Arbor USA. She has over 31 years of working experience comprising of working with national space research organization (SUPARCO) and Telecom Regulator (PTA). She has represented Pakistan at various international foras including European Space Agency, COSPAR, SATRIC, APT and ITU. She has been working for PTA since May 2000 and has contributed in various Divisions of PTA under various capacities including Enforcement, Policy and Research, Licensing, Services (Numbering and Type Approval) and Strategy & Development Divisions. Some of her major contribution include: • Development of National Plan for Emergency Telecommunication. • Development of Spectrum Trading and Sharing Framework. • Development of KPIs for various telecom services • Design of proforma for Inspection of Quality of Service provided by the licensees. • Implementation of Telecom Policy issued by the Government of Pakistan. • Report on “Way Forward for Telecom Sector in Pakistan”. • Report on “Mergers & Acquisitions in Telecom Sector”. • SOP for Illegal Spectrum Users. • Right of Way (RoW), Convergence. • Management of allocation of Geographic Numbers (Cellular Mobile Operators, Fix Local Loop & Wireless Local Loop Operators) and Non-Geographic Numbers (Universal Access Numbers, Toll Free Numbers, Universal Internet Numbers, Premium Rate Service Numbers).
