For more than 20 years, Erick has been working along with indigenous communities in finding ways to fulfil their right to manage and operate their own media. He is one of the founders of Telecomunicaciones Indigenas Comunitarias, the first indigenous mobile operator in the world. He is an expert in rural communications, holds a PHD in Rural Development from the Metropolitan Autonomus University (Mexico), a master degree in Social Administration from the University of Queensland, Australia and a Law degree from the Iberoamerican University in Mexico. He is one of the representatives of the Americas Region at the ITU Group on Capacity Building Initiatives.
