Priority Areas for WSIS-2005 Financial Support
There will be many activities, which contribute to the success of the Summit. However, the WSIS-2005 Fundraising Campaign is focussed on attracting contributions to support the core preparatory process and the Tunis Summit itself, including special requirements as stipulated in the rules of procedures of the Summit. Other activities, such as side events organized by various stakeholders, or activities undertaken or financed by the host country, Tunisia are not within the mandate of this fundraising campaign.
The fundraising campaign goal of raising at least CHF 5 million in financial contributions assumes that some of the services required to organize the core preparatory process and Summit will be provided through in-kind contributions.
The core priorities for financial contributions to the WSIS-2005 Fundraising Campaign include the following:
1. Interpretation and translation services (six official languages of the United Nations) for the PrepCom meetings.
2.
Meeting venues and related services (logistics, protocol, conference services) to accommodate the PrepCom meetings.3.
Operational and staff-related expenses of the WSIS Executive Secretariat including support for the WSIS Bureau, maintenance of the official WSIS website, documentation and distribution and other support services for WSIS participants.
Note: The funds from voluntary contributions will be administered in accordance with the ITU Financial Rules and Regulations including appropriate reporting to donors.
