OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

CONSTITUTION AND CONVENTION OF THE ITU (GENEVA, 1992), MINNEAPOLIS, 1998

The Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands has accepted the instruments amending the above-mentioned Constitution and Convention.
The instrument of acceptance was deposited with the Secretary-General on 7 December 2001.

REGIONAL AGREEMENT FOR “THE EUROPEAN BROADCASTING AREA CONCERNING THE USE OF FREQUENCIES BY THE BROADCASTING SERVICE IN THE VHF AND UHF BANDS (STOCKHOLM, 1961), AND PROTOCOL AMENDING “THE REGIONAL AGREEMENT FOR “THE EUROPEAN BROADCASTING AREA (STOCKHOLM, 1961) ESTABLISHED “AT GENEVA ON 13 AUGUST 1985

The Government of the Principality of Liechtenstein has acceded to the above-mentioned Agreement and Protocol. The instrument of accession was deposited with the Secretary-General on 31 October 2001.

CHANGES

The Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy, Communication and Immigration of Belize has changed its name and is now called Ministry of Investment and Public Utilities.
The Ministry of Research and Information Technology of Denmark has changed its name and is now called Ministry for Science, Technology and Innovation.
The Ministry of Transport and Communications of Ghana has changed its name and is now called Ministry of Communications and Technology.
The Ministry of Infrastructure, Natural “Resources and Environment of the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe has changed its name and is now called Ministry of Public Works, Infrastructure and Natural  Resources.
Cable & Wireless Optus Limited, which participates in the work of the Radiocommunication Sector, has changed its name. The new denomination is SingTel Optus Limited.
Excess Bandwidth Corporation, which participates in the work of the Telecommunication Standardization Sector, has changed its name. The new denomination is Virata Corporation.
GE Capital Satellites (Gibraltar) Ltd, which participates in the work of the Radiocommunication Sector, has changed its name. The new denomination is SES Satellites (Gibraltar) Limited.
Racal Datacom Limited, which participates in the work of the Telecommunication Standardization Sector, has changed its name. The new denomination is MILGO Solutions Limited.
Solinet Systems, Inc., which participates in the work of the Telecommunication Standardization Sector, has changed its name. The new denomination is Ceyba, Inc.

NEW MEMBERS

Radiocommunication Sector
Cell-C (Pty) Ltd (Sandown, South Africa), COMMUNITY OF YUGOSLAV PTT (Belgrade) and ManSat Limited (London) have been admitted to take part in the work of this Sector.

Telecommunication Standardization Sector
ARRIS International, Inc. (Suwanee, GA), Cell-C (Pty) Ltd (Sandown, South Africa) and COMMUNITY OF YUGOSLAV PTT (Belgrade) have been admitted to take part in the work of this Sector.

Telecommunication Development Sector
Cell-C (Pty) Ltd (Sandown, South Africa), COMMUNITY OF YUGOSLAV PTT (Belgrade) and Mattel (Nouakchott) have been admitted to take part in the work of this Sector.

NEW ASSOCIATES

Radiocommunication Sector
EMS Technologies Canada Limited (Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, Canada) has been admitted to take part in the work of Study Group 4

Telecommunication Standardization Sector
Atos Origin Intégration (Paris) and Photuris, Inc. (Piscataway, NJ) have been admitted to take part in the work of Study Group 15.
Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories (Murray Hill, NJ) has been admitted to take part in the work of this Sector’s Special Study Group on IMT-2000.
Silicon Laboratories, Inc. (Austin, TX) and Xerox Corporation (Palo Alto, CA) have been admitted to take part in the work of Study Group 16. Xerox Corporation’s participation is with effect from 1 September 2002.

STRUCTURAL CHANGE

Republic of Poland

The Ministry of Infrastructure was established with effect from 23 October 2001. The telecommunication functions entrusted to the former Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and to the Ministry of Economy have been transferred to the Ministry of Infrastructure.
