(For the media, not an official record) The first DigiMedia '94 conference comes to an end: the event is a great success Geneva - more than 350 computer graphics specialists, broadcasters, producers and research laboratories, institutes of technology and universities, audiovisual program production companies, software publishers and television corporations have been able to air their views on the latest developments in software design, programme production and multimedia distribution and management. Based on four modules, DigiMedia '94 has presented a broad overview of multimedia, from computer-generated images and programme production using such images to the distribution of multimedia productions in new formats, focusing particularly on multimedia television techniques. In addition, DigiMedia '94 has fulfilled its role as a forum of exchange between professionals in different but complementary areas. DigiMedia '94 has been a unique opportunity for pioneers of the images of the future to discover, within their respective areas, the other links in the chain which will bring multimedia into our daily lives. At the same time, exhibitors have had a chance to present multimedia products. Audiovisual Eureka, for example, was able to present and to sell its showcase projects LightStudio (lighting simulation software for TV and film), European Children Television Channel (an introduction to audiovisual and multimedia for young people) and Interactive Europe, a multimedia presentation of 3000 years of European history and cultural traditions. In view of the great success of this first DigiMedia Conference, the organizers have decided to repeat the experiment. The occasion will be at the CICG from 19-21 April 1995. Page 2 of 1
