An important event to include on your agenda:
the first Development Conference for the Asia-Pacific region

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) - the intergovernmental 
organization responsible for the harmonious development of a global 
telecommunication network - will be organizing the first Development Conference for 
the Asia-Pacific region from 10 to 15 May 1993 in Singapore.

The Conference will immediately precede the Asia TELECOM 93 Exhibition and 
Forum(1) also taking place in Singapore, the hub of the region's growing 
communications infrastructure. The conjunction of both events will thus provide a 
unique opportunity to participants to meet with top leaders and the most influential 
managers in telecommunications and discuss key and strategic issues relating to 
telecommunications development in the region and to visit one of the most 
prestigious and universal telecommunications showcase. 

At the Asia-Pacific Regional Development Conference (AS-RDC), decisions will be 
made and translated into telecommunication development cooperation programmes 
for the entire region up to the year 2000 and beyond. Your participation will therefore 
offer you the possibility of becoming an active partner in decision-making process and 
get first-hand information on the region's next medium-term telecommunications 
development plan. 

The Asia-Pacific regional development conference will review the implications of new 
trends in telecommunication policies, regulations, technologies as well as financing 
strategies (including joint ventures, Build, Operate and Transfers arrangements, etc.). 
It will also consider the various possible sources of financing for the huge investments 
required to meet the demand of the business community and to reach the goal of 
universal access. 

The Asia-Pacific region, home of half the world's population, offers tremendous 
growth potential and business opportunities in the field of telecommunications: this is 
an event which can't be missed.
