ITU-T website and the ITU Operational Bulletin (http://www.itu.int/pub/T-SP/e) are the authoritative sources for ITU-T E.164 numbering information (the so called telephone numbering plan). For terms and definitions, please see Recommendation ITU-T E.101. For structure, please see Recommendation ITU-T E.164.

WTSA-16 approved Resolution 91 recognized that reliable information about reserved and assigned Numbering, Naming, Addressing and Identification (NNAI) resources for each country is an important issue for ensuring global telecommunication interconnectivity. Enhancing electronic access to a repository of information on numbering plans with numbering resources reserved or assigned to each operator/service provider (to the extent available) within every country, would be advantageous for ITU Member States and international telecommunication operators or operating agencies, to help improve the reliability of telecommunication networks and services they carry and help improve revenue assurance for operators, and may assist in countering misuse of international telecommunication numbering resources.
