Emergency telecommunications<\/strong>: Asia and the Pacific<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

Three back-to-back events related to Early Warnings for All (EW4All) were conducted in Bangladesh from 30 November to 2 December:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

  • The EW4All National Dissemination Workshop was organized by the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief and hosted by the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) with the support of the EW4All pillar leads. The workshop launched the EW4All National Roadmap.<\/li>\n<\/div>\n\n

  • The Pillar Leads and Project Development Meeting, held by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, featured discussions of the pillars\u2019 activities and funding for the next two years of EW4All implementation.<\/li>\n<\/div>\n\n
    \n
  • The ITU Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific led the discussion on Pillar 3 activities with representatives from BTRC, the Department of Disaster Management, Bangladesh Television, and Betar. The Office also participated in the validation workshop on standard operating procedures for Common Alerting Protocol implementation plan.<\/li>\n<\/div><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n

    Environment<\/strong>: Asia and the Pacific<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

    On 3 December, a validation workshop was held for the Creating a Circular Economy for Electricals and Electronics in Thailand project. The workshop validated the recommendations for Thailand\u2019s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR)-based e-waste management framework covering the legal, administrative and financing dimensions. With active participation from government agencies, the private sector, and academia, the session provided valuable insights and alignment on the next steps toward a sustainable circular economy.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

It leads initiatives such as national fibre-optic deployment and the creation of a sovereign Internet Exchange Point to improve connectivity, reduce costs, and enhance data security. ADETIC expands digital inclusion by establishing telecentres across the country, giving rural and underserved communities better access to Internet and essential digital services.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n
