Goals.<\/u><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> ICTs are enablers for all 17 SDGs, and play an important role on at least ten of them.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"mceTemp\">\u00a0<\/div><p>To this end we forge strategic partnerships that deliver \u2013 showing tangible results that benefit governments, industry and users:<\/p><ul><li><span lang=\"en-US\">The joint ITU\/UNESCO initiative, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/broadbandcommission.org\/Pages\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><u>Broadband Commission for Sustainable Development<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><u>,<\/u><\/span><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> publishes <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">annually the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/broadbandcommission.org\/report-type\/state-of-broadband-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><u>State of Broadband report<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/a><span lang=\"en-US\"> a respected and authoritative analysis that <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">puts broadband firmly on the international policy agenda.<\/span><b> <\/b><ul><li><span lang=\"en-US\">Recent Commission reports include the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.broadbandcommission.org\/Documents\/BroadbandCommission_manifesto.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><u>Universal Connectivity Manifesto<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/a><span lang=\"en-US\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.broadbandcommission.org\/publications\/Pages\/SOB-2020.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><u>Special Edition State of Broadband Report<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/a><span lang=\"en-US\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/broadbandcommission.org\/publication\/state-of-broadband-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><u>The State of Broadband &#8211; People Centred Approaches for Universal Broadband<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/a><span lang=\"en-US\">, setting out a roadmap to achieving universal connectivity by 2030.<\/span><\/li><li><span lang=\"en-US\">The Commission\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/broadbandcommission.org\/working-groups\/digital-infrastructure-moonshot-for-africa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><u>Digital Infrastructure Moonshot for Africa<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/a><span lang=\"en-US\"> proposes <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/broadbandcommission.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/WGDigitalMoonshotforAfrica_Report2020-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><u>a roadmap and action plan<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/a><span lang=\"en-US\"> to achieve Africa\u2019s digital transformation by 2030.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><span lang=\"en-US\">We partner with UNICEF on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.itu.int\/en\/ITU-D\/Initiatives\/GIGA\/Pages\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><u>Giga<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><u>,<\/u><\/span><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> a global initiative to connect every school to the Internet and every young person to information, opportunity and choice:<\/span><i> <\/i><ul><li><span lang=\"en-US\">The initiative is active in 19 priority countries, and with focus on<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> Central Asia, Eastern Caribbean and Africa, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Asia Pacific and South and Central America.<\/span><\/li><li><span lang=\"en-US\">The programme has <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/projectconnect.unicef.org\/map\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><u>mapped<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/a><span lang=\"en-US\"> more than 1 million schools in 41 countries, with more mapping under way.<\/span><\/li><li><span lang=\"en-US\">Giga has c<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">onnected over 3 000 schools in Kenya, Rwanda, Kazakhstan.<\/span><\/li><li><span lang=\"en-US\">Raised over USD 22 million from global partners. <\/span><\/li><li><span lang=\"en-US\">ITU\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.itu.int\/en\/ITU-D\/Technology\/Pages\/LMC\/LMC-Home.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><u>Last Mile Connectivity Toolkit<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/a><span lang=\"en-US\"> will support Giga countries in achieving affordable school connectivity.<\/span><\/li><li><span lang=\"en-US\">Developed models for finance, including <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/gigaconnect.org\/bcg-report-assessment-of-sustainable-business-models\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><u>an assessment of sustainable business models<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/a><span lang=\"en-US\">.<\/span><\/li><li><span lang=\"en-US\">Working with UNICEF\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unicef.org\/innovation\/venturefund\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><u>Venture Fund<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/a><u> <\/u><span lang=\"en-US\">we help<\/span><u> <\/u><span lang=\"en-US\">identify digital public goods to make digital content, information and skills available to children, teachers, and administrators.<\/span><\/li><li><span lang=\"en-US\">The first <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/gigaconnect.org\/1st-giga-ministerial-roundtable-in-africa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><u>Giga Ministerial Roundtable in Africa<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/a><span lang=\"en-US\"> (2021) with the Government of Rwanda focused on closing the digital divide in Africa.<\/span><\/li><li><span lang=\"en-US\">Giga\u2019s work was highlighted in the UN Secretary-General\u2019s Roadmap for Digital <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Cooperation Action Plan and in <\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/content\/common-agenda-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Our Common Agenda Report<\/a>.<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><span lang=\"en-US\">ITU is a key player in the UN Secretary-General\u2019s activities on digital cooperation, participating in the <\/span><span style=\"color: #111111;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Secretary General\u2019s Roadmap for Digital Cooperation and <\/span><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">contributing thinking on topics such as global connectivity, digital public goods, digital inclusion, artificial intelligence, digital trust and security. <\/span><\/li><li><span lang=\"en-US\">ITU and UNDP launched <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">an <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.digital-capacity.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><u>online platform<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/a><span lang=\"en-US\"> matching outstanding demand to training offers across the organizations.<\/span><\/li><li><span lang=\"en-US\">ITU provided expertise to G20 leaders on accelerating ICT growth, development and
