First Lady of Nigeria appointed Champion for Child Online Protection (COP)

ITU Secretary-General Dr Hamadoun Touré formally appoints the First Lady of Nigeria, Dame Patience Jonathan, as Champion for Child Online Protection (COP).
Dr Touré praised Dame Patience Jonathan at the inauguration ceremony for her tireless efforts to keep children and young people safe whilst online, expressing his appreciation to the whole of Nigeria for giving their support to the First Lady.

“Under her guidance, the Government of Nigeria is now taking extensive steps to ensure a safer online environment for children,” he said. Dr Touré continued by saying that the ITU looks forward to continuing its close cooperation with Nigeria in the future.
