ITU together with a range of partners launched the 2nd edition of the Guide to Developing a National Cybersecurity Strategy (NCS guide) on 24 November 2021, after the first guide was published in 2018.
Rapid digitalization in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic brought with it a surge of cyber incidents, and has underscored the need for countries to reinforce their cyber protection. Putting in place a comprehensive national cybersecurity strategy is vital in this regard. Yet, around 60% of Least Developed Countries still do not have a National Cybersecurity Strategy in place. Given the complexity of the task of developing one, the NCS guide serves as an important resource.
''As with the first edition, I am confident that this new Guide will serve as an invaluable tool for policymakers, regulators, and every stakeholder with an interest in building a safe and robust digital environment,'' said Ms Bogdan-Martin at the launch event.
She noted that the development of the guide itself is an ''outstanding example of successful multistakeholder collaboration in the service of a safer, stronger world.''
