We signed a framework cooperation agreement, which will help us further advance on concrete ICT projects.
We discussed, in a very open and engaging way, a range of issues from our regulatory work, to statistics, capacity building, the regional initiatives as well as their reflections on the next World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC).
I also met with the newly established National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA) and discussed our cooperation on cybersecurity. I was also pleased to learn that considerable percentage the NCA professional staff are women.
During my stay, I visited Elm, a company owned by the Public Investment Fund. They are leading the digital transformation efforts in the Kingdom to meet the needs of the government and private sector. I visited their innovation labs and saw demonstrations of their e-government platform, as well as their digital health, transport, and persons with disabilities applications. I was truly inspired.
The meeting ended with a fascinating discussion with Vice-Minister His Excellency Eng. Haitham Al-Ohali. We spoke about innovative ways to unlock the power of ICTs for sustainable development and strengthen our cooperation to make a positive impact on the ground.
