ITU-ROA/SNIPPETS - Ghana

Date: 18-20 July2018: ITU Regional Development Conference for Africa in Accra Conference Center

Objective: RDF aims at sharing and discussing the achievements, experiences, work programs and partnerships amongst ITU Members and interested partners for effective implementation of the outcome of the World Telecommunication Development Conference.

Number of Participants: 216 participants among which were 8 ITU Staff, 104 Ghanaian and 112 foreigners

Results /Impact: Thanks to RDF, Member States were updated on what’s going on WTDC-14 outcomes implementation; they were also able to brainstorm together on specific projects conception, aiming at implementing WTDC-17 outcomes.
IMG_9955.jpgDate: 23 and 24 July 2018: Spectrum Monitoring Workshop in Accra, organized by ITU and hosted by NCA at Accra Conference Center.

Objective: Institutional and individual capacity building for a harmonized approach to spectrum monitoring and SMS4DC in the framework of BDT –Korean project.

Number of Participants: 160 participants from 28 African countries

Results /Impact: to build capacity in countries to adopt a harmonized approach to spectrum management software SMS4DC improvements. This will have showed the great interest for countries in the installation of mandatory spectrum monitoring equipment to achieve efficiency in the use of spectrum for the region. All the participants visited Ghana NCA type approval and spectrum labs and were impressed by the high level of expertise and facilities made available in the region.
