The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO) are holding a regional international event titled “Using ICT for Effective Disaster Management Caribbean Forum”. The Conference will take place in Ocho Rios, Jamaica from 26th to 28th September 2006. Please see below general logistical information for your attention.

Entry Visas
into Jamaica
Passports must be valid for at least 6 months after period of intended stay and
all visitors must hold onward/return tickets to country of permanent residence,
documents required for next destination & sufficient funds for length of stay.
Citizens from the following countries DO NOT require an entry visa for Jamaica:
1) Nationals of Jamaica.
2) Citizens & legal residents of Canada and the United States of America.
3) For tourist visits up to 6 months by citizens of:
a) United Kingdom
b) Antigua & Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Bangladesh, Barbados, Belize, Botswana, Brunei, Darusalam, Cameroon, Cyprus, Dominica, Gambia, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, India, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namimbia, Naurum New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, St. Kitts & Nevis, st. Lucia, St. Vincent & Grenadines, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Africa, swaziland, Tanzania, Tonga, Trinidad & Tobago, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu & Zambia.

For tourist visits up to 3 months by Nationals of:
Austria, Belgium, Denmark, fiji, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Korea
(South), Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, San Marino,
Suriname, Sweden, Switzerland & Turkey.
5) For stays of up to 30 days by nationals of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa
Rica, Ecuador, France, Greece, Hong Kong (S.A.R passports only), Japan,
Portugal, Spain and Uruguay.
6) For stays of up to 14 days by nationals of Venezuela.
Notes: Visas are issued on arrival to the
following nationals for a stay to be determined by Immigration Control:
Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria,
Croatia, Czech Rewpub, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan,
Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Monaco, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia &
Montenegro, Slovakia, Slovenia, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine &
Uzbekistan.
Attendees must check locally with High Commission/Embassies to confirm whether a
visa is required in order to enter Jamaica. All visa arrangements and costs are
to be borne by the attendees and/or their administration. CTO will be happy to
assist with an Invitation Letter on request.

Compulsory vaccinations:

Yellow fever certificate if arriving from an infected areas. The following
countries and areas are regarded as infected:
Africa: Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Rep,
Chad, Congo, Congo Dem Rep, Cote d`Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Gabon,
Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria,
Rwanda, Sao Tome & Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania,
Togo, Uganda & Zambia.
Americas: Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Panama,

b) Exempt infants under 1 year.
Recommended immunisations:
diphtheria, hepatitis A, *hepatitis B, polio, *TB, tetanus, typhoid, yellow

* recommended in some circumstances, travellers making 3 or more visits per
year, stays of more than 3 months in a rural area, high-risk occupational groups
& backpackers staying more than 1 month.

English is the official language in Jamaica.
Climate
Jamaica has a hot tropical climate with warm temperatures throughout the year
although evenings are cooler as
are the more hilly regions. Rainy months are May and October but showers may
occur at any time. Hurricanes
are sometimes experienced between Jun-Nov.

required.

Dress
A suit is appropriate business attire for men. Women should dress conventionally
with a suit or blouse and skirt
