Summary - Y.4610 (11/2025) - Data requirements and models for smart pest and disease management services

A smart pest and disease management (SPDM) service is an ICT-based agricultural service that integrates Internet of things (IoT) sensors, edge devices and data analytics to enable real-time monitoring, forecasting and control of crop pests and diseases. It supports early detection and targeted interventions using multisource data, enhancing sustainability and reducing reliance on manual scouting and excessive pesticide use.
Recommendation ITU-T Y.4610 specifies data requirements and data models for SPDM services. To address challenges related to data inconsistency and lack of interoperability, the Recommendation aims to standardized data models to enable scalable, adaptive and vendor-neutral SPDM solutions across diverse agricultural environments.
