Summary - Y.3328 (04/2026) - Information-centric networking in networks beyond IMT-2020 – Requirements and functional framework of the ICN-enabled user plane

Recommendation ITU-T Y.3328 specifies the requirements and the functional framework of information-centric networking (ICN) enabled user plane in networks beyond IMT-2020. It specifies the detailed requirements from both service and functional perspectives.
The proposed framework, which is built upon the IMT-2020 framework defined in Recommendation ITU-T Y.3102, introduces enhanced functionalities in both user plane and control plane. These enhancements enable the user plane to leverage ICN networking capabilities and to improve the forwarding performance of user plane.
