Summary

DPI (Deep Packet Inspection) device is a system that performs network traffic inspection, interacts with a policy decision function, and identifies applications and flows. The functions of DPI Functional Entity are defined in ITU-T Y.2770. Currently, operators have relatively comprehensive requirements for DPI devices, mandating functional and performance testing prior to the devices being put into service. Recommendation ITU-T Q.4082 outlines the test content and corresponding requirements to be considered during DPI device testing.
