Summary - Q.4082 (01/2026) - Testing requirements for deep packet inspection device

Deep packet inspection (DPI) device is a system that performs network traffic inspection, interacts with a policy decision function and identifies applications and flows. The functions of the DPI functional entity are defined in Recommendation ITU-T Y.2770. Currently, operators have relatively comprehensive requirements for DPI devices, which mandate functional and performance testing prior to the devices being put into service.
