Summary

Current source routing measurement methods face multiple limitations, such as inefficiencies in active and passive measurement methods, protocol dependency, and redundant overhead. To address these limitations, it is necessary to integrate active and passive measurement methods and establish a normalized and protocol independent data plane to streamline measurement methods.

Recommendation ITU-T Q.3919 aims to provide the requirements, methods and reference model of resource integration and protocol independent methods for source routing measurements, which will contribute to efficient network fault management.
