Summary - L.360 (05/2025) - Operations support system requirements for network infrastructure management using ID technology

Telecommunication networks require proper allocation of network infrastructures and planned periodic maintenance, in order for services to be delivered quickly and efficiently, to minimize out-of-service risks and guarantee service level agreement satisfaction. It is important to focus on the issue of optical fibre-based infrastructures and the huge amount of information transmitted. Network infrastructures that undergo allocation and maintenance operations can differ in terms of positions, dimensions, services, field work and scheduled times for periodic planned maintenance.
Identification (ID) technology can be applied to solutions that focus on the proper management of network infrastructures. The ID uniquely identifies an element of interest in terms of its allocation and maintenance.
This second edition of ITU-T L.360 adds a description about the functionality of an operations support system (OSS) for building the connection relationship based on ID tag information. Furthermore, a new appendix dealing with advanced technologies used for network infrastructure management is added.
