Summary

Recommendation ITU-T J.1116 will describe the specification of IP-based smart digital audio services. It defines an AI and virtualization-enabled framework for delivering platform-adaptive audio services across diverse digital environments, including broadcast systems, mobile applications, web streaming platforms, and smart speakers. By leveraging service virtualization and artificial intelligence technologies, the system dynamically optimizes transmission paths, quality parameters, and routing mechanisms based on real-time analysis of network conditions and user environments. This approach mitigates the limitations of traditional physical broadcasting infrastructures, enhances operational flexibility and efficiency, and enables seamless integration across broadcast and broadband networks. As a result, the specified architecture supports consistent service quality across heterogeneous platforms and facilitates the evolution of audio services toward a fully digital, converged, and globally accessible ecosystem.

This Recommendation document is Part 3 of a multi-part deliverable composed of 3 parts. Part 3 describes the specifications of IP-based smart digital audio services. The other parts are identified below:
