Summary

Recommendation ITU-T F.746.26 specifies the functional architecture of the interactive low-latency multimedia transmission system (ILMTS). It identifies the key functions and functional blocks, as well as the relate Reference Points among those functions. This Recommendation also introduces the examples of key technical solutions of an overlay media delivery network which is dedicated to the ILMTS.

With this Recommendation, the service providers who provide the interactive live content delivery services with the low-latency transmission requirements are able to build a standardized real-time multimedia service system by taking advantage of the functional architecture herein. In addition, those service providers can build a real-time content delivery system that is differentiated from the conventional content delivery system by enabling more efficient bi-direction media transmission.
