Connectivity Challenges and Opportunities – Paraguay

Landlocked developing countries (LLDCs) such as Paraguay are often remote and poorer than the nations around them. Isolation from world markets and lack of connectivity make them dependent on their neighbours for technology and transportation routes. Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) in the Americas Region — Connectivity Challenges and Opportunities: Paraguay looks at how these problems could be overcome, setting out how ICT improves connectivity to international markets, facilitates trade and boosts competitiveness. It analyzes the country’s ICT efficiency, its demographics, key economic indicators and population distribution, and then charts its progress in modernising the access of its population to ICT. Showing that Paraguay has made steps forward in regulating to ensure higher penetration of services and lower prices, the report  makes recommendations to help it continue with the pace of evolution to encourage the deployment of broadband infrastructure and wider internet access.
