Abstract
Satellite is an excellent candidate to provide broadband integrated Internet
access due to its characteristics such as global coverage, flexible bandwidth,
and broadcast and multicast capabilities. In this presentation business opportunities
for broadband satellite IP networks meeting the future applications such as content
distribution, streaming media, and broadband access are described. The current Loral
Skynet solutions e.g., global network infrastructure, the integrated Skynet network,
ClearStream are described. Future two-way IP solutions with example are discussed.
Various critical factors for success of satellite IP networks, and standardization
requirements are emphasized.

- In charge of the ASTRA Broadband Interactive System (BBI) regulatory and commercial deployment in Europe (Ku/Ka-band platform)

Education, Previous Professional Experience:
North American national, holding a MBA in International Management and a B.Sc. in Computer Science. Over 14 years experience in satellite television broadcasting, programming and broadband IP services in Europe, Americas, Africa and the Middle East.
Previously held executive positions at:
- Star Holdings - Dubai. General Manager for Middle East consumer satellite, pay-TV and cable rollout for Orbit and StarTV
- Tee-Com Group of Companies: Co-founder of Panafnet; Director of International Operations for Tee-Comm-Canada and Encom-France,
launching MMDS broadcasting and DVB satellite networks in Americas and Africa
- EchoStar Communications -The Netherlands. Built and headed Echostar’s European consumer satellite equipment
distribution business.
Mr. Feierbach is fluent in six European languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Dutch and Portuguese. |
