CURRENCY EXCHANGE:

Only US dollars (cash or traveller’s cheque) will be accepted for exchange in Porto Seguro. It is advisable that participants exchange other currencies at important Brazilian international airports, such as Guarulhos (GRU) in São Paulo or Galeão (GIG) in Rio de Janeiro, where most connections will be made.

CUSTOMS:

We advise that all goods carried by passengers (excluding those goods for the traveller’s personal use, in quantity and quality according to the purpose and duration of the passenger’s stay in Brazil) which exceed the total value of US$ 500 be declared on the “Declaração de Bagagem Acompanhada – DBA” (Declaration of Accompanied Luggage) form. The DBA will be available to the traveller on board or at the arrival (in customs units, for entry or departure of the country) and printed in three languages: Portuguese, English, and Spanish. Travellers with personal items such as cameras, laptops, etc., will receive a permit for temporary admission, if the declared total value in the DBA exceeds R$ 3.000,00 (approximately US$ 1,200.00). This permit allows that these items enter and leave (exit) the country with no tax payment.

TRANSPORTATION:

Transportation from the airport to the hotel will be provided to delegates, starting two days prior the beginning of the meeting, and from the hotel to the airport up to two days after the end of the meeting. The van will pick up the delegates from the airport to the docks, where the hotel’s ferry will be waiting to take delegates to the hotel. The official transportation for this event (Saturday 9th and 10th of June 2001) is provided by A&A-Promoções e Eventos. All delegates interested in making use of the transportation service are kindly asked to inform A&A-Promoções e Eventos (Phone :(55) (21) 512-5308 Fax :+(55) (21) 512-2495, E-mail: abiliop@openlink.com.br) in advance. The cost of the two-way ticket is R$20,00. This cost covers transportation from the airport to the docks, whereas the ferry will be free of charge for all delegates staying at the Paradise Resort Hotel.
