Mr Pierre Thorel
After having earned a Ph. D in 1987 at the university of Grenoble France, P. Thorel has been working
for 10 years in microelectronics. Involved in the development of telemedicine projects since 1998, he
has developed collaborative tools for the sharing of medical images. In 2001, he received the France
Telecom Awards for the tele echography project. At the present time, he leads a R&D team dedicated to
telemedicine services at France Telecom R&D, targeting services for homecare, e-health, follow-up of
patients, remote diagnosis, remote examination and remote surgery.
