Abstract
Keneya blown : the telemedicine pilot project of Mali
The aims of keneya project is to evaluate the feasibility, potential and risks of an internet-based telemedicine
network in one developing country (Mali). A project for the development of a national telemedicine network in Mali
was initiated in 2001, using internet-based technologies for distance learning, web information access, making local
contents and teleconsultations.
The telemedicine network has been in productive use for 12 months and has enabled various collaboration channels,
including North-South, South-South, and South-North distance learning and teleconsultations.
And various Internet services are provided to health worker of project area:
- E-mail
- Web access
- Listserv
- Discussion group
- Training in ICT’s and basic informatics
Telemedicine tools have an important role to play in the improvement of the quality and efficiency of health systems in developing countries, as they offer new channels for communication and collaboration, and enable the dematerialization of several processes that are usually hindered by deficient physical infrastructures.
