The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has for a long period of time stressed the importance of security in its specifications. As an example, all IETF Request For Comments (RFC) documents, not just those dealing specifically with security, are obliged to contain a "Security Considerations" section, discussing possible security threats applicable to the RFC and countermeasures to them. This talk will discuss recent IETF security work, to what OSI layers it applies, and its business implications.
