Session 2 – World Café in Marché Bonsecours in Old Montreal
This working session will be conducted
as a World Café, an effective
collaborative conversation methodology
that ensures the active involvement of
each and every participant in a
generative discussion around the key
questions of the Symposium. The shared
dialogue facilitates intensive peer
exchanges and is an excellent means to
express innovative ideas, reveal
emergent trends and consolidate an open
network of world-class experts in the
field of ICTs, the Environment and
Climate Change.
All the ideas and the co-created content
of the World Café will be collected and
shared during the event. A graphic
record of the ideas emerging from the
World Café will be captured in real-time
enabling participants to have a large
scale visual representation of the
proceedings.
A report on the World Café outcome will
be presented on the following day, 30
May 2012, in Session 7, 17:30-18:00.
Session 3 – ITU Methodologies
for the Environmental Impact Assessment
of ICT
Within ITU-T Study Group 5 (SG5),
Question 18 is developing a set of
common methodologies to assess the life
cycle impact of the ICT Sector, both in
terms of its own emissions and the
savings created through ICT applications
in other industry sectors. This session
will provide an overview of the ITU
methodologies.

Quebec’s Green ICT Initiative: The Equation project [

Through the leadership of the Quebec Government, the ICT industry, academia and Prompt, a 3-year, major Green ICT initiative was launched in November 2011. The Equation project targets accelerated product development in the realm of Telco Clouds and Smart Grids, sustained Green ICT advocacy as well as the development of a business case demonstrating the full socio-economic impact of the Green ICT opportunity.
This session will show how ICTs can be
used to tackle urban challenges. It will
also provide an overview of strategies,
