Masahisa Kawashima received the B.E., M.E., and Dr. degrees in communication engineering from Waseda University, Tokyo, in 1989, 1991, and 1994 respectively. He received the M.Sc. degree from MIT Sloan School of Management in 2002. He worked for Bellcore as a resident visitor from 1991 to 1992, contributing to Bellcore's proposal for the MPEG-2 video compression standard. He has been working for NTT since 1994. From 1994 to 1999, he worked on the standardization of video-on-demand technologies and received the outstanding perosonal contribution awards from DAVIC in 1994 and 1999. He is currently leading a research group for FMC applications and technologies. He is a member of the IEEE and IEICE-J.

S7.2: Photo: Hanane Becha, Nortel, Canada

Hanane is a key member of the Nortel Strategic Standards development team, which is responsible for the creation of Nortel-wide standards strategy for SOA and Web Services and participating in the development of SOA related standards and specifications. Hanane has extensive experience in delivering client-services in the area of information management and is currently responsible for coordinating Business Process Management (BPM), Event Driven Architecture (EDA) and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) activities to best fit the Telecom domain needs. Hanane is an active participant in several Standards Development Organizations including the International Telecommunication Union Standardization (ITU-T), OASIS and the Object Management Group (OMG).

Hanane has published a number of articles related to Distributed Computing and Mobile Agents and is the editor of multiple documents within the ITU-T which deal with "IPTV Services Requirements", “Open Service Environment capabilities for NGN”, and “Ubiquitous Sensors Networks”.

S7.3: Photo: Alejandor Cadenas, Telefonica, Spain

Alejandro Cadenas received his MSc in Physics and Electrical Engineering from University of Valladolid in 1997 and 1999 respectively. He is a Project Manager in Telefónica Research and Development, focusing on IMS, NGN and convergent innovation of end-user services, in particular on the network evolution of the operator infrastructure towards user-centric services, context-aware hosted services and protocol adaptations. Previously he has been a senior Systems Engineer in Motorola Inc. for several years on UMTS UTRAN design and IMS Control Layer product definition.

S7.4: Photo: José M. del Álamo, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain

He received a M. Sc. degree in Telecommunications engineering and a B. Sc. degree in Electronic engineering, both from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, where he is also conducting his Ph.D. in the field of service management architectures for user-centric ICT services over NGN. From 2000 to 2002 he was involved in the design, development and deployment of ICT software in different companies such as INDRA and INSA-IBM Global Services. Then, he joined UPM where he is working as a research engineer involved in several European and Spanish national projects in the areas of advanced Telecommunications services over NGN, Operation Support Systems and service management, service provisioning platforms and service engineering, and identity management. He is working with first line telecom actors such as mobile network operators (Telefonica and Portugal Telecom) and network equipment manufacturers (Ericsson, NEC and Alcatel-Lucent).
