ITU-T Study Group 16 created Question I/16 in May 2003 initially to study standardization
needs for the use of public telecommunication services for emergency and disaster relief
operations. After WTSA-04, this became Q.27/16. After its meeting in April 2006, SG 16
decided to reorganize the work on TDR and Early Warning, as follows:
- General aspects of TDR/EW will be dealt with under the MediaCom Project (Q20/16)
- System-specific aspects will be handled under the different Questions (eg Q2/16 for H.323-related aspects)
- Delete Q27/16
- The work will be coordinated with ITU-T SG 2, the Lead ITU-T SG for TDR/EW, and the PCP-TDR
