The ITU invited all Youth Forums Alumni to apply for the Global Youth Forum on
Youth and ICT for Development. The winners were granted a fellowship to
participate in the Forum. |

The Global Alliance for ICT and Development (GAID) in collaboration with the ITU
and other UN Agencies organised a Global Forum on Youth and ICT for Development
to harness creativity and dynamism of the youth in the use and knowledge of ICTs
for own benefit as well as for peers and communities to advance the United
Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). . |

- To actively engage youth in discussions with their peer representatives,
policy makers, technology leaders and other stakeholders and catalyze
action-oriented activities by multi-stakeholder partnerships on various
issues including access, education, employment, etc..
- To showcase youth-led initiatives such as “For Youth, by
Youth”.

- • Youth networks to promote and provide support to ICT-led initiatives
and policies that address concerns and priorities of the youth;
- • An avenue for cooperation and collaboration in order to follow-up on
proposed activities and initiatives;
- Y• Youth awareness at the regional and national levels to energize the
youth base and focus on youth issues;

- Only ITU-Youth Forum Alumni (from 2001 to 2006)
- Priority was given to Alumni who presented project(s) that have grown
from ITU Youth Forum experience, interesting and useful to Global Youth
Forum participants;
- Alumni who justified the ICTs application to the
benefit or their community.
