Biography

Alan Horne is the Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) in Bahrain.  During 2007/8 he also held the position of the President of the Arab Network of Regulators (AREGNET). Alan was the first non Arab to hold this key position. Commencing his career with British Telecom (BT), Alan has held senior positions in BT, Phillips, Mitel and was a founder of InterConnect Communications (ICC).  During 20 years as CEO of ICC Alan advised Governments, Regulators and Operators on regulatory matters surrounding the liberalisation and developments of markets throughout EMEA.  After selling ICC to Telecordia Technologies of the USA, Alan took up the invitation, in late 2006, to be the Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) Bahrain. Alan has a 1st Class Honours Degree in Electronic Engineering and a Masters in Telecommunications.  He is a member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers as well as a member of the Institute of Directors.
