Forum on telecommunication regulation in Africa Gaborone, Botswana 25-27 October 2000

This Forum fostered an exchange of views on current challenges in the area of telecommunications restructuring in African countries. One of the main objectives was the preparation of regional action plans for improved support to reform activities in Africa.

A regional approach makes it possible not only to develop programmes focusing on a smaller number of countries but also takes better account of similarities between countries (legal system, languages, etc.), and also identifies and brings together different partners (regional organization and finance institutions) from region to region.
