Event Description
The workshop is being held in response to requests from many developing countries for capacity building activities in the area of rural communications. This workshop is linked to the ITU Asia Pacific Regional Initiative on Rural Communication Infrastructure Development, which aims to promote among others, enhanced access and use of cost effective and socio-economically beneficial ICT applications. This will contribute to reducing the social divide and improving quality of life, good governance, access to health services, business opportunities, sustainable development, distance learning, employment, and other benefits of ICTs, taking into account the requirements and conditions in rural, isolated and poorly served areas.
The workshop is supported by assistance from the
Government of Australia.
The workshop is targeted at senior/middle-level policy makers and managers who are involved in developing and implementing initiatives on ICT Applications for Rural Communications.
