Bulgaria's MTITC chose to mark this year's celebration
under the national initiative: “Manager for a Day 2010”, part
of “Junior Achievement Bulgaria”, held on 22 March 2010 in
Sofia. In general, the national initiative is related to
inviting young people to share ideas for improving people’s
lives in the capacity of managers of public administration
for one working day. Governmental representatives
take utmost account of the opinion of young people since
their generation is driving all processes of the society
while the role of the Government is to implement their views into reality.
"Manager for a Day 2010", 22
March 2010, Sofia, Bulgaria.
In line with the theme: "Better city, better life with ICTs"
the Ministry of
Transport, Information Technology and Communications (MTITC)
invited two young people studying ICT sciences (upon a
preliminary selection) to share their views on how life could
be advanced with ICTs in a contemporary city. In fact, their
imaginary cities were greener, connected with high-speed
Internet providing smarter and more accessible services to
citizens but above all, wireless.
If they were public managers they would
focus efforts on developing a web portal aimed at improving
access to information on public transport in order to
mitigate the consequences of heavy urban traffic; promoting
of electronic payment systems for public transport and
connecting wirelessly urban territories. The discussion
ended by officially granting of certificates at a special
ceremony.
In addition, a special postage stamp dedicated to the 2010
Shanghai World Expo theme: “Better cities, better life” was
released by MTITC on 30 April 2010. Bulgaria will be among
the 192 countries which will take part in the Expo.
