ICT for Developing the Capacities of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Rural Areas website of the activity
Two projects in Bangladesh and Egypt produced the following within one year:
* e-services and educational software on e-marketing, business management and accounting;
* 130 trained operators from 46 telecentres (master trainers);
* around 2,000 trained rural MSMEs;
* 56 community awareness sessions to sensitize about 10,000 people on using ICT.
The projects increased the ICT usage by MSMEs: Internet usage (51% to 93%), marketing (18% to 70%), ICT in daily business (50% to 75%).
A telecentre can train more MSMEs, who may request more services; which makes the projects sustainability. IDB also plans to replicate it in other countries.
