New broadband connected computer lab at Fawe girls' school in Kigali, Rwanda
Description de l'activité:
Intel will donate a new PC lab to the upper-section of the Fawe girls school in Kigali, Rwanda. The purpose of the donation is to support the Fawe school in its mission to promote and popularize science and math education amongst girls, and help to ensure reaching the school's goal to have all its graduate be computer literate. The donation is part of Intel's World Ahead program, whose aim is to bring benefits of technology to the reach of new users everywhere. The donated PCs are locally built by Rwanda Network Computer, a local start-up company, that recently joined Intel's Channel Partnership program. Thus the donation is an illustration of the symbiotic relationship that exists between small, local companies and large multinational IT companies. This symbiosis is bound to lead to sustainable job creation and economic growth, as long as conditions for entrepreneurship and for take up of technology exist. The lab will be connected via a WiMAX connection provided by MTN Rwanda, a local service provider, thus demonstrating that broadband wireless is reality in Rwanda
