Descripción de la actividad:
On 15 June 2006, the campaign “Protect Your Computer!” was launched in Lithuania. The campaign aimed to increase information and network security level in the home users’ domain. During the campaign 100,000 CDs, containing the most necessary software for protection against computer viruses, spam and harmful content of the Internet websites, were distributed for free-of-charge to ICT home users. Private and public sectors and the civil society, recognizing the crucial importance of robustness and trust in ICT networks and applications for the sustainable development of information society, seek to develop strong network and information security culture in Lithuania. This special multi partnership project was organized in order to raise public awareness on the cyber security and to prevent negative impact of cyber incidents for home users. The CD offers to PC users some pieces of advice and suggestions, how to secure the privacy of the computer and contained information in it, as well as easily installable software to combat cyber threats. The CD was distributed through the public Internet access spots in district centers and rural areas as well as through branches of Communications regulatory authority in the major cities of Lithuania. A virtual CD is still available at www.esaugumas.lt, the national comprehensive website on network and information security in Lithuania.
