Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development is committed to the task of capacity buiding of broadcasters in the Asia-Pacific region. To meet the challenges of the global information society, AIBD will join hands with other organisations world-wide to contribute to the capacity building of broacasters in other regions. AIBD has already signed agreements with Commonwealth Broadcasting Association and South Africa Broadcasting Association as well as with Arab States Broadcasting Union to this end.
Broadcasters are important focal points in an information society, collecting and disseminating information relevant to all sections of the society. Thus more than any other section of the society, broadcasters need to develop the skills needed to use the technologies which make the information society possible. Effective use of these technologies by broadcasters can contribute to the attaiment of the MDGs. The partnerships that have been created and will be created in the near future is in line with the Millennium Development Goal 8
