On November 24-25, 2005, European network and information security conference Readiness for Handling Network and Information Security Incidents took place in Vilnius, Lithuania. It was organized by the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania, European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) and the Communications Regulatory Authority of the Republic of Lithuania. Representatives of European and global intergovernmental and public organizations and institutions as well as prominent business enterprises attended in the conference. Conference discussions spanned the topics of network and information security incidents, their impact on and threats for electronic communications users, advanced technological solutions for handling network and information security incidents, organizational models of incidents handling.
It is intended to make the tradition to organize yearly European conference on different information and network security issues in Lithuania. Organization of a conference on network and information security issues in 2006 is projected already.
The objective of the conference is to provide a forum for broad discussion on the best ways to handle network and information security issues and to contribute to network and information security building as well as awareness and trust in networked society raising.
