The aim of this research is to trial, validate and evaluate a prototype mobile phone interface system that will allow children and adults with a physical disability who cannot speak and require an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) device to communicate to independently use a mobile phone. The system will enable them to initiate, answer and terminate voice calls and send text messages through their mobile phone. Currently this is not possible. This project will fund the first user trials. The results will be used to refine the prototype and define the final product.
