The Internet Industry Association (IIA) has prepared a Content Code of Practice for Australian ISPs to ensure they comply with the Australian Governemnt co-regulatory framework for online content. These requirements are the product of both industry and end-user consultation and negotiation with the Australian Broadcasting Authority. The IIA believes that the new rules strike a reasonable balance between providing an adequate level of protection for end users and the ability of the industry to carry on day to day activities without undue cost, inconvenience or interference. To better assist both ISPs and Internet users understand their rights and obligations under the new arrangements, the IIA has published a Guide for ISPs: Information About Online Content; a Guide for Internet Users: Information About Online Content; Compliance Checklists to assist member ISPs to comply with the Codes and a Compliance Manual for ISPs and Content Hosts.
